The fastest Indian...

Vrooom, Vrooom, Vrooom... Many of the like minded, spell bound, addicted souls find the sound of a performance machine intoxicating. The average motorhead would be turned on in his / her head with just a brief exposure to the sound. Many a extreme motorhead would probably get hard ons and wet themselves when they test these performance machines and in a way nothing else could come close to either.

So there are the motorheads with the monies to land themselves meaty performance machines and then there are others who just have these machines for no reason that any normal human being would want to have. Its probably just show value or ego massages or something that only their deep pockets can explain.

Mind you there are all 3 types of deep pocketed people. The Keen, the Show and the Idiot. The Keen is to be respected and understood, the Show is to be admired for courage and the Idiot is to be ignored.

A keen motorhead would be smart enough to figure out what, when, where and how to use the machine, a show motorhead would be smart enough to realize he / she should know the above and the thrill seeker (read Idiot) wouldn't know any of the above.

And, that is where the problem starts...

The Indian govt. has made changes to its import / export policy and the last 2 years have seen a great inflow of some of the most amazing automotive giants across the planet foraying into the country with their machines, that one could only dream of a couple years ago. With the change of the policies, these machines are now in most people's reach and still some machines are way out of reach. The keen motorhead is going mad with a twitch to own one of these, the show motorhead just wants to own one and the thrill seeker simply has the monies to buy one.

And, that again is where the problem continues...

A certain Indian automotive company decided to take the plunge first and bring in off-shore technology and build India's FIRST REAL sports bike, and what a bike it was. Never before had a premium motorcycle (150cc) been built this way. It had all three categories of people in a frenzy, the keen motorhead was careful enough to make sure the adrenaline did not overwhelm his / her common sense, the show motorhead just went mad with barely any "Common Sense" and the thrill seeker made sure there was absolutely no "Common Sense" and the motorcycle was termed too dangerous for Indian roads.

Dangerous in the hands of the thrill seeker that is...

What followed was an onslaught of Indian and international automotive giants introduce new machines over strategic and planned periods of time & soon all three categories of people had much to drool, ogle and dream about. Of course what it did do was bring about a silent set of wars amongst fans, followers, racers, dealers, rival motor clubs, so called self declared experts and so on so forth. Silent wars of which, how, why & what about these machines that drove the thrill seeker to the peak of thrills which unfortunately doesn't go too well with the general outlook people have towards performance machines in our country. The show motorhead now had something to really talk about and really show off about, which inflated their egos sky high and the slightest of distortion of this fact could turn out really ugly, after all it is motorspirit and adrenaline fueled ego. The keen motorhead had always dreamt and now could finally turn that dream into a reality & as a result really enjoy the performance that these machines had to offer.

And that is not where the problem lies...

Power & performance is the mantra that lines the conversations of the keen motorhead, looks & speed lines that of the show motorhead and how much it cost and how many heads it turned lines that of the thrill seeker. Not that there is anything wrong with any of the above mentioned scenarios and not that anyone should find anything wrong with it either.

So what is the problem then???

Road rage, accidents, a false sense of power, narcissism, pea-cocking and all the side effects that follow as a by product. The false sense of power coupled with narcissism and inflated ego's fuels fire so hot that the only way they end is thru disturbing displays on the road. Road rage coupled with power and ego sparks clashes that cannot be controlled.

And that is where the problem really lies...

With great power comes greater responsibility and that is something a majority of us Indian's fail to want to understand and even comprehend. And then we are called the worst drivers / riders across the planet with absolutely no discipline. Yet the average Indian wants more power, more speed, more glitter and gold, & no ones really wonders why Indian's have that TAG.

We aren't ready and we never will be unless 2 out of the three types of people make a change, a change to changing that TAG, a change in their mindsets and a change in their understand of the "Common Sense".

Note:
  • In case you are wondering, a majority of the self proclaimed motorheads in our country fall under the Thrill Seeker / Idiot type
  • Why? Here is possibly why
    • Helmets and seat belts are for Pussies
    • Even basic safety wear / equipment is so lame
    • If you see me coming, get the fuck outta my way
    • The cops are rasist bastards with nothing else to do in life
    • Rules are meant to be broken
    • The flashier and the louder I am, I am on fire
    • Driving at break neck speeds on a populated road / area is the coolest thing to do
    • I couldn't possibly care about anyone else has to say as long as I look cool, sound cool and make peoples lives miserable
  • In case you are wondering, maybe you fall under this category as well, if you think you don't then...
